Frequently Asked Questions

What are the three main features of Redoublet.com? +

Redoublet.com is a 3-in-1 bridge app, and Play Online is the heart of it: play against our robot in the daily and weekly competitions, in a competition you set up yourself, or in a quick board whenever you like. Analyse Game reviews the hands you played at home with Double Dummy Solver (DDS) analysis. Score Tracker turns every kitchen table game into a duplicate with benchmark scoring.

How does Play Online work? +

Play bridge online against our robot and compare your result with everyone who played the same deal. Join the daily or weekly competition, set up your own competition for your club, your class or your friends, or play a quick board whenever you like. It works in the app and in any browser, on the same account.

Can I set up my own competition? +

Yes, and it takes a minute. Give the competition a name, choose one-off or recurring (daily or weekly), let us deal the boards or upload your own PBN file, and score it as matchpoints or IMPs. Then invite your players by email — if someone has no account yet, you can create one for them. Everyone plays the same deals against our robots, and the standings update as they finish.

Can I play with my own partner? +

Partner play is coming soon. You and your partner sit North and South at the same table, wherever each of you is, with our robots as your opponents — the same deals, the same competitions and the same scoring as when you play alone. It is in testing now, and we will announce it here and in the app as soon as it opens to everyone.

What bidding system does the robot play? +

You choose the system you actually play. The robot bids 5-card major (NBB club), 5-card major (NBB beginner), 2/1 Game Force, SAYC or Swedish Modern. Click a system to open its system card; the cards for the other three are on the way. Whichever system you pick, your opponents always bid and play 5-card major (NBB club).

How does the robot work, and what level does it play at? +

Our robot combines fixed bridge rules with simulations to decide its bids and plays. It uses only the information available to you as a player — there is no peeking at the other hands. It follows standard conventions (see the bidding system above) but will deviate when its simulations point to a better option. As a result, it can play brilliantly one moment and make a beginner's mistake the next. Overall, we'd rate its level as above-average.

How does claiming work in Redoublet? +

Claims — both those made by your opponents (EW) and the verification of your own (NS) claim — are settled by double dummy analysis. It plays out every possible distribution of the remaining cards and determines exactly how many tricks can be made. This means an opponent's claim may rely on the location of cards you cannot see — that is the nature of a double dummy result. To be clear: during play the robot does not peek at all four hands; it plays only on the information available to it.

Do I need the app, or can I play in a browser? +

Both work, on one account. Play Online runs in any browser at redoublet.com/play, with nothing to install. The app — free on iOS and Android — adds the two camera features: Analyse Game and Score Tracker.

How does Analyse Game work? +

After playing a home bridge game, scan each hand using your phone camera. The app detects the cards and shows you the theoretical optimum (Double Dummy Solver), our robot's bidding and play, and lets you replay the game against our bot. You can also download the PBN (Portable Bridge Notation) file of the game.

How does Score Tracker work? +

Score Tracker turns every kitchen table bridge game into a duplicate. After playing your physical game, enter your score and get a benchmark comparison — either the DDS (Double Dummy Solver) score or our robot's score. See how your results measure up against the theoretical optimum.

Is the app free? What does Pro include? +

The app is free to use, and 10 games a month are included. Redoublet Pro lifts that limit: unlimited online play, unlimited analysis and the full Score Tracker. Every new account starts with a 30-day free trial of Pro. After the trial, Pro is €5.99 a month on the website, and you can cancel at any time. In the App Store and on Google Play the price is set per country: €5.99 in the euro area, £5.99 in the UK, $7.99 in the US, and A$9.99 in Australia.

How can I delete my account? +
